Background

A level of focus, dedication and partnering is exactly what Leslie Rivers, International (LRI) intends to deliver to you as its client. Leslie Rivers, International enthusiastically works inside a win-win-win strategy—for you, LRI and the publisher.

Since 2005, LRI has established relationships with Harlequin, HarperCollins, MacMillan, Penguin, Random House, Simon & Schuster, such as: Bantam Dell, Ballantine, Berkley, Penguin, Tom Doherty, Houghton, Soho, Kensington, Knopf, Leisure Books, Avalon, Avon, Beyond Words, Harlequin, GP Putnam, Little Brown & Company, Minotaur, Dutton, PocketBooks, Simon & Schuster, Dutton, and more, depending on the genre. They all have reviewed LRI proposals at this time. This all took research, time and considerable expense. LRI can get your manuscript read. Your manuscript must then stand on its own merits. LRI requests only your finest, marketable work.

If you research what it takes to get published by a large publishing house, you will find something like 3 in 11,000. LRI hasn’t yet evaluated 11,000 books in its marketing years. Nor 3,000 at this point. LRI is moving as fast as it can through refining processes. And we haven’t counted but we may be coming up on our first 1,000 or it may just feel like it. It is a matter of numbers, quality, timing, and luck.

A brief summary of LRI’s growth: Began in 2005 inside a broader vision for artistic fulfillment. 2005: established office, website, logo and 5 clients; 2006: narrowed its vision to literary agency, started canvassing top publishers; clients jumped to 25 through word of mouth referrals; 2007 incorporated readers and got listed on Writer’s Market and Guide to Literary Agents based on its work; 2008 added readers and improved processes; 2009 narrowed focus to fiction, started closing deals, the first one with Mercury Retrograde, a fantasy, coming out Spring 2010. Two other novels being reviewed for offers…the genres: cozy mystery, women’s fiction.
