Judith R. Bruni, Agency Founder

Judith Bruni was born in, San Antonio, Texas. Her father was in the US Army and she attended 14 schools over the years in Texas, California and Okinawa where she gained a more universal view of society. She wrote her first poems for a 6th grade class assignments, one of which was selected as one of the four best-written poems from the entire school (4th thru 6th grade) and read to the Student Assembly.

She learned Haiku in 8th grade while attending classes in Okinawa. She attended both accelerated English and Mathematics classes in 11th and 12th grades. Judith wrote much of her poetry including one short modern abstract play, during the 1970s while attending UTEP and working part-time with a publisher where she learned that trade.

Judith graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from University of Houston, 1981 and obtained a 23-year career in the Sales and Distribution Division of IBM Houston where she gained her client-service, customer satisfaction, results-oriented, project management, and marketing/sales expertise. Judith married Mark Bruni, September 1990 and lives in Houston, Texas, with their 2 dogs (Daisy Mae and Blackie).

In the spring of 1997, Judith had a resurgence of her desire to write and produced her first novel. She produced 17 proposals and had one publisher agree to review her work should she write in their formula. Judith focused on other endeavors, including establishing Leslie Rivers, International. "Reflections", a poem written in 1978 for her mother on Mother’s Day, was selected in a 1997 contest as a semifinalist and published in "Sketches of the Soul", an anthology of poems (ISBN 1-57553-412-6, p. 112). Judith has published many articles in the Cherokee Messenger for the Cherokee Cultural Society of Houston and her neighborhood newsletter: Fleetwood Flyer. In winter of 1998, Judith was honored as a nominee for "Writer of the Year" from Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers for which she is a member.

Due to her workload increases, her personal writings grew dormant until she left IBM in 2004 to pursue her dreams. Judith initially wrote a play and a short story in 2004 and started a collaboration of a musical romance. After mentoring a young writer to complete her first novel, Judith launched Leslie Rivers, International in January 2005 as a global agency: promoter, literary agency, producer, writer, and mentor, and took on her first clients shortly afterwards.

Judith has served on the Board of Directors for the Cherokee Cultural Society as President, Vice President and Special Projects Chair (1996-2000); appointed by Houston’s Mayor Lee Brown to serve on the board of directors for Houston MediaSource (1999 to 2005), was selected Chairperson of the Community Relations Committee and their Parliamentarian (2003-2005); is a national member of the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers (since 1997); and leads leadership programs for a global education company as a volunteer (since 1986). Judith has started a walking group in her neighborhood: Fleetwood Fit (2003), created and co-chaired the Fleetwood Festival (2005,2006) and writes articles on health for the Fleetwood Flyer.
